Phil Root is a visual artist whose work examines how ceramics can be a tool to tell stories of place and engage audiences with the often complex and overlooked histories within the land. Root’ works and projects explore our relationship to dwelling, landscape and the earth. He fires his work at Lyde Green Pottery, an educational wood fired kiln site in North Bristol. In 2018 he co-founded Caraboo Projects, an organisation producing exhibitions, workshops & residencies which support artists’ professional development in the South West.Upcoming and recent exhibitions include: Solo exhibition, Modern Painters, New Decorators, Loughborough, UK (2026); GLOST Material Research exhibition, London Craft Week, County Hall Pottery, London (2025); Pick It Up! curated by Morven Mulgrew, 17 Midland Road, Bristol (2025); Absolute Beginners, Park Royal, London (2023- 2024); Meadware TACO!, Thamesmead, London (2022-2024); Lyde Green Pottery, Bristol (2021)
