Rhett Leinster (b.1990) creates uncanny and ambiguous compositions that develop out of an intrigue with incidental, often screen-based images, and a holistic painting practice. He will often create works by printing images chosen from a digital repository onto handmade paper, as base formats to instigate further re-working through paint. in doing this, and by placing equal importance on paint, print and support, Leinster slows images instantaneous reading and explores apprehension about the tendency to interpret images as orderly arrangements. He received his BA in Fine Art at Glasgow School of Art in 2013. Recent exhibitions include shows at Edouard Montassut, Paris; Stoppenbach & Delestre; New Glasgow Society, Glasgow, and 20 Albert Road, Glasgow.
