Jamie Fitzpatrick’s (b.1985) practice can be viewed as a social critique; he explores the ways in which our perceptions of historical figures depicted in memorial statues change over time. Thus, his works question authoritative power by caricaturing monuments and highlighting the shift in their hierarchical position within society. He has exhibited at Saatchi Gallery, and ICA, London. In 2015 he won the UK/Raine Saatchi Gallery Sculpture Award, and the Visitor Vote Catlin Art Prize at Londonewcastle Project Space in 2016.
