Mary Herbert (b. 1988) creates luminous drawings of mountainous landscapes, underwater scenes, forests on fire, spectral figures, and ghostly architecture, often working with soft pastels. To achieve her signature soft-focus effect, Herbert applies the pastels with a tissue rather than drawing directly onto the paper. Her works have been the subject of solo exhibitions at the galleries Moskowitz Bayse, Los Angeles and Lychee One, London. Her work is in the collections of The British Museum and The Royal Collection.
