What is Salon?

Salon: Slugtown Fundraiser 2025 is an online and in-person art auction, featuring over 70 works generously donated by some of the most exciting artists working today. Every bid and every sale will support our future programme and SlugClub. 

What will I be supporting?

Salon will help support our future programme of exhibitions, projects, and SlugClub – our free art club for children in the east end of Newcastle. 

As an artist-led nonprofit gallery and Community Interest Company, we are passionate about creating space for emerging artists, communities and new audiences to connect and engage through contemporary art. We are committed to curating a programme that forefronts experimental, challenging and pioneering artwork, and making that accessible to all. 

Your support to our fundraiser will help us: 

• Commission and exhibit new work by emerging artists 
• Keep engaging new audiences through SlugClub and help it thrive 
• Continue to run a programme of free exhibitions, events and workshops for everyone. 

How it works: 

1. BROWSE THE WORKS

Visit slugtown-fundraiser.com once the auction goes live at 12:00 GMT 21 November 2025.

You will find images of the works, information on the artists involved, and starting bids on each piece. We have a selection of works, from painting, to prints, to sculptures and unique editions. 

2. REGISTER AND PLACE YOUR BID

You will need to register an account, and then you will be able to bid. 

Each work has a starting price, and a minimum bid increase. You can place bids at any time online whilst the auction is open, or you can come into the gallery during opening hours to bid. You will receive notifications if someone outbids you. 

3. KEEP AN EYE ON THE BIDS!

The auction will close at 21:00 GMT on Friday 5 December 2025. After this time, the highest bid on each work is the winner. 

4. WINNING BIDDERS

If you are the winning bidder, we will contact you directly after the auction closes to arrange payment and collection/delivery of your artwork.

Can I see what will be in the auction?

To see a list of works and artists that will be in the auction, sign up to our mailing list. The list of works will be sent out 1 week ahead of the auction opening.
